ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Wednesday rejected the budget 2018 presented by the PML-N terming it as ‘unconstitutional’.
“The federal government had no right to propose the budget fo
r the financial year 2018-19 since its tenure is about to end in a
month. Such a move is unconstitutional and I reject it,” Khursheed said while addressing a national assembly session.
The opp leader added that the PML-N budget consists of two portions; one is the revenue which he is “okay” with, but Khursheed said that the government is proposing expenditures of one year
, which is unacceptable.
“This is unconstitutional. If the mandate is not respect, then the situation woul
d get out of control,” Khursheed added.
He also lauded the Sindh governmen
t for spending on improvements to the health sector, while he said that the governments in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have under-performed.
Khursheed also said that the assemblies would be dissolved on May 31 and that the elections can not be held after 90 days of dissolution.
