PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) has launched investigations against FATA Secretariat officials for alleged embezzling of funds allotted for polio vaccination projects.
During a regional board meeting in Peshawar on Saturday, the accountability watchdog initiated an inquiry against employees of Directorate of Health Services in FATA and others for their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of funds worth millions of rupees in polio vaccination projects across the tribal areas.
The FATA Secretariat is also under scrutiny for alleged misuse of authority in Bannu by awarding projects to contractors who use sub-standard materials.
The board also authorised investigations against Senior Engineer Irshad Muhammad Khan of the Cantonment Board Peshawar for financial irregularities pertaining to accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income, and officials of the Malakan Revenue Department for non-collection of rent on leased property of evacuee property of Central Government in Dargai tehsil and illegally transferring evacuee property causing a loss to the national exchequer.
