LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided
that it would investigate the downfall of Pakistan Steel Mills.
NAB issued a notific
ation on Friday in which it said
that it would investigate the reasons behind the downfall of Pakistan Steel Mills and would place the name of those responsible on the Exit Control List (ECL). NAB also said
that it would find out the causes for the loss of the
nation’s money and would bring to light those responsible for it.
This development came after a letter was written by National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Industries and Production Chairman Asad Umar to NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on December 18 in which he inquired about the reasons behind Pakistan Steel Mills’ downfall. Asad Umar also told NAB chairman that the public treasury had faced damages worth
Rs 1.5 billion in a month leading to i
ts employees not getting paid. He also asked NAB to take action against those responsible.
Earlier, the government had announced that the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills would be paid two-month salary in December.
