LAHORE: The Punjab government has allocatedan amount of Rs 185 million in the budget 2016-17 for the environment sector.
According to the budget documents, budgetary allocationsfor promotion and attainment of sustainable development in theprovince have been increased as compared to the last year’s Rs50 million. The government has allocated Rs 185 million forenvironment management to promote environmental awareness, topromote research and development for improving quality ofenvironment, provision of expertise in environmental reviews,and transfer of enviroment-friendly technology to the privatesector.
Meanwhile, the punjab government has allocated Rs 32million for on-going environment schemes, while Rs 153 millionhas been allocated for new schemes in 2016-17 budget.
