LAHORE: COMSATS Institute of Information Technology arranged Research Productivity Award 2015 ceremony on Thursday, October 06, 2016. Professor Dr S M Junaid Zaidi (S.I, T.I), Rector, CIIT, was the chief guest of this ceremony.
It is an award by an independent agency against output of applied research in the form of products and processes that are patented nationally or internationally. It encourage the HEIs to give more emphasis to research, which eventually lead to raising the quality of education in the country.
Professor Dr S M Junaid Zaidi (S.I, T.I,), Rector, CIIT, thanked the participants at the end and emphasized that it’s the high time to focus ourselves towards our next target which is to becoming top class university among the region and ultimately well recognized university in the world.
The eligibility criteria as approved by committee constituted by the Ministry of Science and Technology to evaluate and review the scheme of Research Productivity Award includes international books, patents granted, research supervision, research Grant won, international publications and applied research output.
A total of 175 researchers and scientists were awarded with RPA from multiple disciplines. Professor Dr Qaisar Abbas, Director, CIIT, Lahore Campus, appreciated the efforts of CIIT, faculty members, staff and the students as the CIIT, has been ranked number one institute of Pakistan and among 601-800 universities of the world by Times Higher Education.
Professor Dr Saleem Farooq Shukat, Head, Academics and Research, CIIT, Lahore Campus, shared the overall global scenario of research and the contribution of scientists in boosting the economy of the country internationally. He had been the Master of grand ceremony.
